[Summary of the Award-winning Paper]
Coastal revetments have often been damaged by high waves, but damage caused by instability of the ground inside the revetment has hardly been studied to date. This paper focuses on this instability of the ground and examines the damage mechanism of revetments. In addition to centrifugal model experiments, a numerical analysis method that combines fluid analysis and finite element analysis of the ground was applied as a method of investigation. As a result,2Three characteristic destruction modes were confirmed, and the damage mechanisms of each were clarified.
