Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology Business Plan Contest 2025 Report
At Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology,3Starting in the Reiwa era, we have launched a marine entrepreneurship training program for undergraduate and graduate students at our university.3~5In fiscal year 2019, we held open-participation seminars entitled "Entrepreneurship at Sea" and "Business Plan Contest."6Starting in the current academic year, we are holding a course called "Entrepreneurship at Sea" for undergraduate students.IWe are steadily building a full-fledged entrepreneurial education system by offering regular courses such as "Marine Entrepreneurship II" for graduate students and "Special Lecture on Marine Entrepreneurship" and "Marine Entrepreneurship Seminar" for graduate students.
This year too, Reiwa7Years12Month20On Saturday, the Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology Business Plan Contest 2025" was held. This time17team·56The participants were mainly students from the faculty who were taking the course "Entrepreneurship at Sea I."1Although the participants are first-year students, there are teams formed across faculties and departments, as well as graduate students, and some participants are continuing from last year.SDGsGoal14Students from diverse backgrounds proposed a variety of business plans based on the theme of "Business plans related to protecting the richness of the ocean."
The day began with an opening address by Professor Nakahara (Ocean Policy and Cultural Studies Division), and the morning session was17First round of judging for team participation, and in the afternoon, the finalists who passed the first round8Each team gave a presentation in front of the judges.
After rigorous judging, the Grand Prize winner wasFish Visa~An export passport for farmed fish that can be completed on your smartphone~" (Team name:The thirteenth unique tank), and the Special Jury Award went to "Alternative Fish Matching Service ~Fish TwinThe fish I want, that"Look-alike partner""We'll find it~" (Team name: Team Wonna) was selected.
The next two teams to receive the "Ocean Future Award" were "A new era data center that effectively utilizes seawater" (Team name: Ene Co., Ltd.) and "Densho~Digital twin platform for the succession of fishing practices~ (Team name: Yamadera2nd) and the "Marine Entrepreneur Award" selected by the students of the University of Maritime Science, which will be decided by mutual vote of the participants.Blue Link~ Acoustic biotelemetry×Experience-based marine education: From fishing to science. Marine learning that doesn't end with the experience. ~ (Team name:Blue Link) was selected.
Furthermore, in fiscal year 2025, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. andMOL PLUSThe Mitsui O.S.K. Lines Award was established as a secondary prize byThe thirteenth unique tankAwarded to (Selected: Co., Ltd.MOL PLUS Representative: Takuya Sakamoto)
The winning teams were presented with certificates of commendation by President Iseki, followed by comments from each judge and closing remarks from President Iseki, bringing the event to a successful close.
